Symptoms: At the Doctor’s Office

When visiting a physician to be examined for conditions affecting your breathing, he or she will follow a diagnostic procedure to check your nose, nasal passages and sinuses. This is intended to gather as much information as possible to make an accurate diagnosis and will take into consideration your symptoms, answers to specific questions and include some or all of the following steps:

  • review of your medical history
  • a physical examination
  • CT-scan or MRI, if necessary
  • blood tests, if necessary

Your physician may also ask about and examine other areas besides your nose that can include the ear and throat as well as your head and neck.
