What Causes Sinus/Breathing Problems?: When Should I See a Doctor?

While cold symptoms usually go away within a week it is not normally necessary to consult your doctor.  However, it is recommended that you see your doctor when you have any of the following symptoms:

  • Wheezing (especially in children)
  • Persistent earaches
  • Fast or difficult breathing
  • Persistent high fever (over 101º)
  • Drowsiness
  • Chest pain
  • Green or yellow mucus
  • Cold symptoms that do note ease within a week
  • Persistent headaches
  • Nosebleeds
